At Breakaway Hockey Experience we strive to foster player engagement and great relationships. We teach skills that go beyond the rink.
All of our staff are selected for their ability to engage with players and build trust. By creating an environment of mutual respect and learning, our staff get to know players on a deeper level and as a result, elicit greater effort from them while seeing their enjoyment of the game grow.
Our methods are proven to succeed. We have high satisfaction from our players and their families, many have returned to participate in many more programs.
Breakaway Hockey Experience staff have a passion for all aspects of the game of hockey and a commitment to staying current with the evolution of the game and the teaching strategies which they use. Too often coaches or instructors solely focus on a player's limitations at the expense of things the player does well. We believe if someone is weak at skating yet strong at shooting, focus should remain on both elements, optimizing strengths while improving developmental areas.
Tyler's core belief is that you must develop the citizen, from there develop the athlete and hockey player. Tyler is both passionate and dedicated to his goal. He focuses on proper, fundamental stride development; skating and hockey posture, building on both strengths and weaknesses, creating and maintaining a positive environment and teaching compassion and community.
Tyler's experience includes more than a decade playing hockey in the GTHL, and more than 6 years coaching and instructing hockey (From Pre-House-League up to High School Varsity).
Tyler's coaching experience includes:
Chris has been a coach for over twenty years, coaching both hockey and soccer over that time. He has coached for three different organizations within the GTHL. He brings an understanding of the practices that are at the core of Breakaway's values and beliefs, and as a father of three boys, he also brings an understanding of a parent.
Chris has been an instructor with Breakaway since it's inception and looks forward to continuing to grow with the company. He most recently helped the NHL expansion Las Vegas Golden Knights run a program to introduce kids to hockey in Nevada. While Chris brings a list of accomplishments and titles with him he brings a core sense of what truly is important, strong character and belief in oneself.
Alexandra Hrach works as Breakaway Hockey Experience's marketing and media director. She is currently working towards her Bachelor of Commerce at Ryerson University.
Jake works as an Instructor at Breakaway Hockey Experience. He has been around the rink since before he could walk. He played competitively in the GTHL until adulthood and still continues with the Canadian Armed Forces, Toronto Regional Hockey team. Jake is thankful to have travelled full circle around the game of hockey and is now coaching. Jake believes in the core Breakaway philosophies of creating a fun, safe environment for kids to grow on and off the ice.
